Recipients of PSC Small Grant Awards

Our overarching goal for this pilot project is to solidify a preliminary collaboration between Jennifer Barber and Karen Farris, Charles R. Walgreen III Professor in Pharmacy. Dr. Farris has funded the collection of two pilot data sets, related to the RDSL data collected by Dr. Barber. The proposed project will use these data to publish three papers, which will provide a record of collaboration for an NIH R34 (Clinical Trial Planning Grant) proposal submission. Our long-term goal is to implement a large-scale, R01-funded intervention project. In addition, there are two crucial research questions that must be answered, in order to develop and/or justify the intervention itself. First, what types of individuals have negative experiences at local pharmacies – to whom should the intervention be targeted? Second, what are the characteristics of pharmacies that are successful in meeting the contraception needs of young women? In other words, how should pharmacies be improved to better meet the needs of young women?
