The Demographics of Wealth Stratification in America
Asher Dvir-Djerassi
My research uses administrative data from the Internal Revenue Service to tract the dynamics of wealth inequality in America. We are seeking to understand the forces capable of expanding opportunity and access to wealth in America. A particularly strong emphasis of our research concerns the intersection of racial inequality and wealth inequality. Currently, the richest 400 Americans own more wealth than all Black households; those same 400 Americans own more wealth than all Hispanics. By understanding the policies and forces that have created and recreate this stratification, we seek to offer solutions to redress it.
