Opioid policies and racial disparities

As a Population Studies Center Predoctoral Trainee at ISR, I work to turn these interests into research that addresses racial and socioeconomic health disparities in the U.S. In my dissertation and related research, I am using the Health and Retirement Study and the Panel Study of Income Dynamics to distinguish the mechanisms that produce socioeconomic patterning in disability incidence. In a second line of research, I study policies related to the opioid crisis; in one study, I evaluate the effects of policies to reduce opioid prescribing on racial disparities in opioid receipt.
