Neighborhood, Social Support, and Inflammation in Older Adults

Weidi Qin

Weidi Qin

Weidi Qin conducts research on aging and health– particularly cardiometabolic risks and social determinants of health focusing on older adults. The rapid aging population has led to many health challenges among older adults. While older adults can embrace a much longer life expectancy due to medical advancement, the quality of life varies substantially across different health conditions. For example, over a quarter of older adults are diagnosed with diabetes which requires day-to-day management. The disease burden often cause depression and anxiety, resulting in lower life satisfaction and overall well-being. By conducting population-based research, Qin works to reduce the health disparities in late life, improve older adults’ management of chronic conditions, and prolong older adults’ capability of independent living.
