Neighborhood, Social Support, and Inflammation in Older Adults

I am dedicated to research on aging and health, more specifically, I study cardiometabolic risks and social determinants of health focusing on older adults. The rapid aging population has led to many health challenges among older adults. While older adults can embrace a much longer life expectancy due to medical advancement, the quality of life varies substantially across different health conditions. For example, over a quarter of older adults are diagnosed with diabetes which requires day-to-day management. The disease burden often cause depression and anxiety, resulting in lower life satisfaction and overall well-being. By conducting population-based research, I hope to reduce the health disparities in late life, improve older adults’ management of chronic conditions, and prolong older adults’ capability of independent living.
