Recipients of PSC Small Grant Awards

This project aims to identify the types, magnitudes and prevalences of adaptations in land-use behaviors undertaken by households in agro-pastoral communities in the Mongolian Plateau. This proposed work focuses on the household survey aspects of a larger NASA-funded project, which includes on-going work in the areas of (a) climate and remote sensing data collection and processing, (b) ecological field data collection, and (c) analysis and integration of data. Our goal is to strengthen and expand a NASA-funded project and the collaboration with in-country scientists it represents, by (a) approximately doubling the sample size of households being surveyed, (b) extending the types of questions we will ask to include sketch mapping to capture information on intra- and inter-annual migration routes, and (c) more integrally incorporating international partners in the survey design and implementation phases, which will expand the effectiveness of the survey, the applicability of the results to research communities as well as local partners, and our ability to compete for additional research funds.
