About:

Michael Topping is a PSC postdoctoral fellow with a PhD from the Department of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was affiliated with the Center for Demography and Ecology (CDE) and the Center for Demography of Health and Aging (CDHA) as an NIA T32 funded trainee and a Graduate Research Fellow for the Institute for Research on Poverty.

Topping’s research draws on quantitative and formal demographic methods and theoretical perspectives from the social sciences to examine how outcomes of health and mortality differ temporally, geographically, and across the life course.

His work has been published in Social Science & Medicine, Journal of Aging and Health, SSM-Population Health, Social Science History and other outlets.
