Erika-Ann Kim

About:
Erika-Ann Kim (she/her) is a doctoral student in Sociology at the University of Michigan and a trainee of the Population Studies Center.
Erika-Ann has studied how different arms of social inequality influence non-communicable disease prevalence. Her research focuses on identifying early-life factors contributing to chronic illness, considering aging populations, demographic shifts, and the role of the welfare state in shaping health outcomes.
Prior to coming to Michigan, she received her MPH from Yale University, where she investigated how non-communicable disease morbidity is affected by climate change, as well as how climate change policy approaches and prioritization of climate policies differ between state structures.
Erika-Ann was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi and holds an undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
