Catalina Anampa Castro

About:

Catalina (she/her) is a joint doctoral student in the departments of Sociology and Public Policy. She became interested in demographic research after joining the Minnesota Population Center as a diversity fellow and research assistant. She holds a BA in Economics and a BS in Sociology from the University of Minnesota.

Catalina’s current research interests are how demographic processes, such as migration and mortality, influence existing socioeconomic inequalities over time and place.

An ISR Next Generation Scholar, Catalina won a Marshall Weinberg fellowship in 2022 for the project, ““Nothing and nobody can kick them out.” Incorporating the experiences of formerly undocumented older adults into aging and health research for the Latino/a population.”
