Patrick Wightman, PSC post-doc affiliate, found that the 62% of parents who helped their young adult children (aged 19-22) with finances were more likely to help the children they perceived as agreeable. This held for parents with more than one adult child. Wightman says, “if they perceive one of those kids to have a better attitude or to be more self-reliant, that kid has higher odds of receiving this type of support.”
