Stagg, Ehrlich, Choi and Levine publish in JAMA Ophthalmology on association of cognitive impairment with cataract surgery

Correcting visual impairment may optimize functioning and reduce the risk of further cognitive decline for people with cognitive impairment and dementia. Authors use data from the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) to find that community-dwelling Medicare beneficiaries with cognitive impairment and dementia were less likely to receive cataract surgery than those with normal cognition.
