Smock comments on unmarried mothers and cohabitation in NYT article

The Census Bureau’s CPS reported that 28% of unmarried women who gave birth in 2008 lived with a partner. Pamela Smock says that two factors contribute to this phenomenon: the tendency for cohabiting couples to both delay marriage for financial reasons, and to feel little stigma about unmarried childbearing.
