Skolarus and Burke find elderly stroke victims create huge demand on caregivers

Recent research results presented at the International Stroke Conference in Los Angeles show that “stroke survivors need a caregiver to spend the equivalent of half of a full-time job each week to help them,” says investigator James Burke. Given that caregiving burdens will only increase as baby boomers age, says Lesli Skolarus, “we need to plan for other mechanisms to support caregivers and survivors.”
