On July 27, Amanda Mercer, Jenny Sutton Jalet, Melissa Karjala, Susan Butcher and Bethany Williston teamed up to establish a new world record time for a two-way swim of the English Channel — 18 hours and 55 minutes. Partnering with [Ann Arbor Active Against ALS](http://www.a2a3.org/), the organization founded in honor of Bob Schoeni, they swam to raise money for ALS research.
