Senior advisor to the president Ivanka Trump seems to have taken a key role in discussions of reforming the child tax credit. In this piece, U-M’s Luke Shaefer and David Harris – President of the Children’s Research and Education Institute – have some specific research-based advice on how to properly structure the program to “make a sizeable dent in poverty.” They say Congress must recognize that to create a “wisely designed child tax credit…the details matter.”
