Shaefer says proposed plan to cover tax cuts would hurt a lot of struggling Americans

A proposal put forth by Republicans to cover the tax cut plan could result in about $200 billion in cuts to safety net programs over the coming decade. Proposal advocates claim the cuts won’t hurt anyone. But Luke Shaefer and other poverty researchers disagree. Shaefer says: “The single thing we can be absolutely sure about with a bill like this is that is would increase hardship significantly for struggling families.”
