Kristin Seefeldt has been promoted to associate professor of social work, with tenure, School of Social Work, and associate professor of public policy, without tenure, Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.Seefeldt has been as assistant professor at the School of Social Work since 2012. Her policy-relevant research focuses on the function of public welfare and employment programs in the lives of impoverished families and how low-income individuals understand their situations, particularly vis-à-vis employment and economic well being.She is the author of *Abandoned Families*, which explores how various institutions currently fail low- and moderate-income families, particularly families of color, and of *Working After Welfare*, which discusses employment advancement and work-family balance challenges as experienced by former welfare recipients. Currently, she is conducting research on families’ financial coping strategies and is a PI of a survey examining the effects of the recession and recovery policies on individuals’ well-being.
