This study by Adam Schickedanz, Neal Halfon, Narayan Sastry, and Paul Chung examined generational effects of childhood trauma by estimating the risk of child behavioral problems as a function of parents’ experience of adverse childhood events. The study, which found a link between children with a high rate of behavioral problems and parents who had experienced adverse childhood events, is the first to show this correlation. The researchers plan to look next at whether this association holds true for grandparents and grandchildren.
