Rhode says temperature shifts nothing new to U.S. farmers in NYT story on wheat frontier

Temperatures in the nation’s bread basket could rise by 4 degrees over the next century, according to U.N. projections. How will this affect the 2 billion-plus bushels of wheat currently grown each year? Paul Rhode, who has tracked U.S. wheat production since 1839, says that future shifts of the wheat frontier northward are unlikely to be as dramatic as past shifts.
