In a study analyzing sex offender residential proximity and victimization risk, JJ Prescott and Amanda Agan find that reported sex offense victimization is generally lower in neighborhoods where more registered sex offenders live. They speculate that having an RSO in a neighborhood may increase vigilance around potentially predatory behavior.
