Prescott and colleagues find incidence of noncompetes in U.S. labor force varies by job, state, worker education

In estimating the prevalence of non-competition job covenants in the workplace, Evan Starr, Norman Bishara, and JJ Prescott find variance by required education, occupation, and state. Although engineering and computing jobs have the highest rates of noncompetes, at about 30%, lower skilled jobs involving office support, production, and personal services are also in the 10% range.
