On April 17, 2014, NIH announced a change in its resubmission policy for extramural funding. While the policy still allows only a single resubmission per application, an unsuccessful resubmission (A1) may now be presented as a new application (A0) that will not be compared to the prior submission in the review process. This means investigators who have been unsuccessful may continue to seek NIH funding for their ideas without having to substantially redesign their proposed work.
