Miller says user reviews of jail experiences reflect internet’s ‘democratization of expertise’

Given the tendency for Americans to share their private experiences publicly, it is perhaps not surprising that Yelp and Google feature user reviews of correctional facilities. Reuben Miller suggests that the “democratization of expertise,” the fact that “we’re in this space where having an opinion is rewarded,” and the growing pervasiveness of the criminal justice system make jail reviews inevitable.
