Levy says Medicaid expansion has been good for Michigan’s economy

Proposed plans to cut Federal spending on Medicaid could hurt more than the 70 million Americans who are currently served by the program, says PSC researcher Helen Levy. The federal money has acted as an economic stimulus in about half the states that chose to expand. In Michigan, where Medicaid expansion gave 600,000 more people health insurance coverage, it “translates into about 30,000 additional jobs in the state every year.”
