Lauren Nicholas wins 2009 Heinz Dissertation Award from NASI

PSC post-doc Lauren Nicholas won the 2009 Heinz Dissertation Award from the National Academy of Social Insurance last Thursday. NASI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization devoted to furthering knowledge and understanding of social insurance, health care financing, and related issues through research and education. The Academy’s dissertation award is designed to recognize and promote outstanding research by new scholars addressing social insurance policy questions. The award is presented annually in honor of Senator John Heinz. Nicholas’s dissertation is entitled “Medicare Advantage? The Effect of Managed Care on Medicare Quality, Costs and Enrollment.” It was funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the John A Hartford Foundation.
