Large U-M survey finds Medicaid expansion helped enrollees improve health, job prospects, work lives

A survey of 4,000 Michigan residents who signed up for the state’s expanded Medicaid program and were covered under the ACA’s Healthy Michigan Plan found a majority reported that health insurance coverage in the first year contributed to their work lives and job prospects. These benefits were in addition to the half who reported having better health. ISR’s Sunghee Lee contributed to the study by U-M’s Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation.
