Lantz says those seeking remediations for premature death should look beyond obesity

In a study published in *Social Science & Medicine*, Paula Lantz and colleagues report that the primary risk factors for early death among the 3,600 U.S. adults they followed were: cigarette smoking, sedentary lifestyle, and being poor. They found that obesity alone was not a significant factor.
