Lam says Health and Retirement Study is one of the most important surveys in the world

With baby boomers retiring at the rate of about 10,000 per day, ISR’s Health and Retirement Study assumes even greater importance in its potential to spur important insights on older Americans. The 24-year old study, which surveys about 20,000 Americans over the age of 50 every two years, includes detailed economic and health information on respondents. HRS just received another $40 million in funding from the National Institute on Aging to continue its important work. HRS Director David Weir says: “The power of the HRS comes from bringing together many different scientific perspectives. By sharing the data, we let literally thousands of scientists here and around the world use their creative energy to forge new and important discoveries about aging.”
