Lam discusses shifts in global population, past and future

At an Economic Club of Traverse City meeting, David Lam projected that the global population may level off, or even begin to decline, by 2100. Although population has risen steeply over the past 50 years, decreasing birth rates and an much older population suggest a different future scenario. Speaking of the previous five decades, Lam said: “It’s pretty clear the world will never again grow that fast again.”
