Kruger says STD theory of monogamy ‘fascinating’ but not definitive

A recent analysis suggests that the impact of sexually transmitted diseases may have pushed humans toward monogamy during the agricultural revolution, when societies became more concentrated in population. Although finding the issue interesting, Daniel Kruger noted that the responsibility for raising children is a much more commonly cited explanation for why socially imposed monogamy is a feature of almost all human populations. “Sex is sexy,” he said. “People just find this question fascinating.”
