Since 2001, the REACH Windshield Tours of Genesee County, MI have provided bus tours of impoverished Flint neighborhoods to health officials at hospitals serving these populations. Officials may not realize what area residents are up against, says Daniel Kruger, because their backgrounds and lives are so very different. The tours are part of a program to make it easier for health care administrators to understand the challenges faced by local mothers and children, and to create maternal-infant health programs that help reduce infant mortality. Kruger and colleagues published an analysis of data collected in pre and post Windshield Tour surveys and in several follow-up surveys in the [*Journal of Primary Prevention*](http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23605377).
