Karvonen-Gutierrez says grip strength shown to be a “robust indicator of underlying disease risk”

Commenting on a recent study investigating the association of grip strength with disease-specific incidence and mortality among adults age 40-69 years, Carrie Anne Karvonen-Gutierrez said the links found between grip strength and a range of health outcomes – and the measure’s ability to add value to risk screening – suggests its broad utility in clinical care, and “particularly in areas around the world where we have limited resources.”
