Johnston says new findings show continued decline in teen smoking

March 12, 2012

Data from Monitoring the Future show a decline in teen smoking over the the past 15 years: from about 35% in 1997 to about 19% in 2011. Lloyd Johnston attributes this in part to the impact of federally mandated antismoking ads. “A newer generation of kids has gotten the message about cigarettes and they’re pulling back,” Johnston says.
