ISR Director James Jackson is one of six new members who will be appointed to NSF’s National Science Board, the foundation’s policymaking body, by Barack Obama in August. The 24-member board advises Congress and the president on science and engineering policy. Jackson joins another social scientist, Robert Groves of Georgetown University, as a new appointee. He will begin his six-year term at the August board meeting. “I am honored that President Obama has asked me to serve in this important role,” Jackson said. “Having social and behavioral sciences represented on this board is an indication of the growing recognition that these disciplines play a vital role in the nation’s overall science policy.”
