Jackson asks why protective benefit of education on longevity does not extend to black men

Recent [findings](http://content.healthaffairs.org/content/31/8/1803.abstract) by the MacArthur Foundation Network on Aging in Society show the large impact that education has had on life expectancy since 1900. But one group, African American males, has not enjoyed the longevity benefits of education. Investigator James Jackson wants to understand why the protective advantage of education stops at 12 years of education for black men.
