Estimates are that 11-20% of recent war veterans have or will develop PTSD. Analyzing DNA samples from about 13,000 soldiers, Steve Heeringa, Colter Mitchell, and a team of other scientists involved in the Army STARRS-LS, found two genetic variants that may be linked to an increased risk of PTSD.
