Heather Ann Thompson wins Pulitzer Prize for book on Attica uprising, Blood In The Water

Heather Ann Thompson, who spent more than a decade researching the 1971 Attica prison uprising in which 39 men were killed and 100 were wounded, has received the Pulitzer Prize for history for her book on the subject: “Blood in the Water.” U-M President Mark Schlissel said that Thompson’s work “is an outstanding example of our faculty’s talent and commitment to academic rigor being recognized at the highest levels.”
