March 20, 2017

PSC researcher Heather Ann Thompson was one of three recipients of the 2017 Bancroft Prize for History. She received the award for her book “Blood in the Water: The Attica Prison Uprising of 1971 and Its Legacy” (Pantheon), which drew on extensive documentation – some never before seen by scholars – in reconstructing the uprising and retaking of the prison and the historical and legal aftermath.
