Frey says young white Americans will play smaller role in the nation’s demographic future

The latest census data show that although the number of white Americans grew slightly since 2010, this gain was outpaced by those of Asians, Hispanics, and people reporting two races. At the same time, fertility rates for white women are falling, while those for other groups are holding or rising. This means, says William Frey, that “whites, especially young whites, will play a smaller role in our demographic future.”
