In this CNN op ed, William Frey says the Republican presidential candidates are tapping into the discontent of “the older white population – especially less-educated white males whose anger is being courted.” But, says Frey, “the demographic reality is that America’s youth – and more specifically its racial minority youth – is its future.” Frey warns against an election strategy of appealing to older whites as having “limited returns” as this younger minority cohort becomes a larger portion of the electorate.
