More racially diverse than any previous cohort in their seventies, the early Boomers (born 1946-1955) are also credited by William Frey with ushering in unprecedented social changes since the 1960s: advancing civil rights and women’s empowerment, starting a sexual revolution, expanding demand for education, and generating great wealth. And Frey sees more changes to come from this group. “Baby Boomers have more in common with today’s youth than was the case with the senior cohorts they are replacing, and they could be a catalyst for change in both politics and culture,” he says.
