Freedman finds elderly in assisted living get outside more than those in own homes

Vicki Freedman says that research is unclear whether assistive devices or home modifications alone can stop the elderly from becoming homebound. In addition, she has found that older people in assisted living facilities are less likely to have unmet needs related to going outside than their counterparts living in their own homes.
