Farley discusses how smaller cities can revive their economies and populations by appealing to young professionals

In this OpEd for The Hill, Reynolds Farley discusses how smaller cities without major university or health complexes can revive their economies and populations. He provides an action outline for local political, financial and civic leaders who might “organize themselves to acquire skilled and dedicated young people who now seek to begin their careers in locations where there are other young people, economic opportunities and attractive amenities.”Reynolds Farley is research professor emeritus at the Population Studies Center and professor emeritus at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy both at the University of Michigan.
