Eisenberg tracks factors affecting both mental health and athletic/academic performance among college athletes

May 19, 2016

Through the U-M initiative Athletes Connected, Daniel Eisenberg and colleagues encourage college athletes struggling with mental health to seek help. To this end, they study the particular mental health care needs of college athletes and the barriers to meeting them. Eisenberg works with student-athletes to track factors like their mood, sleep levels, and other variables related to both mental health and success in athletics and academics. He says: “We have a unique opportunity to see how mental health relates to performance and functioning in a very measurable, salient way.”
