Danziger says growth of low-paying sectors and shrinking high-paying industries are bringing down median incomes

In this story on growing poverty in Illinois, Sheldon Danziger says ongoing increases in jobs in the low-paying sectors, combined with decreases in higher paying jobs, is increasing the number of working poor. “Service, retail, food. They don’t pay very high wages,” Danziger says. “That’s a reason why a lot of working people are getting food stamps.”
