Chyn finds new evidence of harmful long-term effects of growing up in disadvantaged neighborhoods

PSC trainee Eric Chyn compares adult outcomes of children displaced by the demolition of public housing in Chicago to peers who grew up in nearby public housing. The displaced families relocated to private market housing using vouchers. He finds that adults whose families were displaced from public housing are 9% more likely to be employed and earn 16% more than their peers who grew up in public housing.
