Cheng finds marriage may not be best career option for women

Analyzing data on 12,600 working Americans, Siwei Cheng found that marriage is associated with fast wage growth for men, but slow growth for women, with the advantage for men accumulating over time. She says that marriage “operates as a de-equalizing force that drives up the gender wage gap over individuals’ lives.”
