This research workshop is hosted in conjunction with the May 2017 International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media (ICWSM-17) – a multi-disciplinary forum to further research on human social behavior through the use of social media and computational tools for vast, unstructured data. This workshop is focused on the applications and implications of social media for demographic research. Contributed research or position papers may focus on a range of topics as described under the ‘Call for contributions’ link below. **Submissions are due March 16, 2017.** The workshop is sponsored by the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, Panel on Big Data and Population Processes.
