Burke et al. find the Affordable Care Act improves medication adherence for middle aged stroke survivors

The study analyzed data from the 2000 to 2016 National Health Interview Survey with a sample of 13930 survivors of stroke in the United States. Among adults with chronic disease, survivors of stroke have high out-of-pocket financial burdens. The paper, published in JAMA Neurology, found ACA implementation was associated with a decrease in cost-related nonadherence to medication among survivors of stroke aged 45 to 64.
