Bruch reveals key decision criteria in making first cuts on dating sites

Analyzing more than 1 million interactions of online dating site users, Elizabeth Bruch says users make a series of decisions before agreeing to meet in person. Initial key criteria in dismissing potential dates – or deal breakers – include lack of photo, age, smoking, and height/weight. Although Bruch found some differences between men and women on the importance of age, height, and weight, the strength of these factors in initial rejection remained high for both.
