Bobbi S. Low, PSC research affiliate and professor in U-M’s School for Environment and Sustainability, retired from U-M as of May 31, 2018. When Low joined the U-M faculty in 1972 she became the first full-time female faculty member in the School of Natural Resources. Her current research interests include evolutionary and behavioral ecology, and its applications to fertility behavior in human and non-human populations; integrated evolutionary theory and resource management; resources and reproductive variance; and reproductive and resource tradeoffs for modern women. She has authored, co-authored and edited a number of important books, including her 2015 *Why Sex Matters: A Darwinian Look at Human Behavior.* Low has taught and mentored many students throughout her tenure. She received the Michigan Teaching Excellence Award in 1990 and the Distinguished Graduate Mentor Award from the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies in 2007. A group of Low’s former students held a “Life History Symposium” in her honor in June 2018.
